API and development: RE: Tigase server can't accept non english usernames. Login Fails

Tigase XMPP Server Board - Sat, 05/11/2019 - 05:15

Hello,

  • Tigase Version is 8.0.0
  • Default authRepository with mysql
  • The Mechanism selected by client was Scram-sha256
  • I used spark and gajim and both only register non-ascii but could not login only with english usernames. I have disabled all mechanism except the PLAIN and the login process worked correctly.

I've reviewed source code and I do not see possible issues with handling unicode (non-ascii) usernames on our side in SCRAM implementation that could lead to the issue.

Could you provide us with the following details:

  • version of Tigase XMPP Server which you are using (is it latest version 8.0.0 or one of the previous snapshots of this version)
  • configuration details of the authRepository which you have in config.tdsl file (changes in enabling/disabling credential encoders could lead to this issue)
  • could you check the entries for this user in tig_user_credentials to ensure that it hash proper entries for used SCRAM-* mechanism
  • which SCRAM-* mechanism you tried to use (SCRAM-SHA1, SCRAM-SHA256 or SCRAM-SHA512?)
  • what client are you using for establishing connection to the XMPP server

Yes The SCRAM mechanism caused this problem.

Which mechanisms caused the problems? SASL-SCRAM?

Which database do you use? Have you configured it to support unicode?

Please provide valid e-mail address for your account, otherwise your account will be disabled.

API and development: Tigase server can't accept non english usernames. Login Fails

Tigase XMPP Server Board - Fri, 05/03/2019 - 15:12

We have successfully installed tigase server. Registering usernames work normally. When non English(for example: Arabic) registered , The server registers the user but login fails always with error NOT AUTHORIZED. we have been struggling with this problem for weeks. We need to allow all Unicode usernames to login correctly.

It will be stored in UserRepository, which means tig_pairs table with LAST_ACTIVITY_KEY as key.

  1. Which classes are called persisting this information, I debugged these two classes but there was no calling of functions of any sort a) LastActivity b LastActivityMarker

The first class (a) is responsible for retrieval of the information (i.e. responding to last activity queries) while the second one (2) to persisting it triggered by user actions. It's done in tigase.xmpp.impl.LastActivityMarker#setLastActivity method (effectively in tigase.xmpp.impl.LastActivityAbstract#persistLastActivity based on previous logic indicating whether it should be stored or not)

  1. Where should I debug/ how should I know, to check the flow that the last activity functionality is working

Please check Protocol section of the specification - you can send queries to the server and observe response. We have also automated test (in TTS-NG project) for this functionality.

'sess-man' {
'jabber:iq:last-marker' (active: true) {
'jabber:iq:last' (active: true) {

Installation and maintenance: Last Activity functionality not taking effect.

Tigase XMPP Server Board - Mon, 04/29/2019 - 00:15

Hi all

I want to achieve last activity functionality in tigase server.

I have followed the following article

https://docs.tigase.net/tigase-server/8.0.0/Administration_Guide/html/#lastActivity

But I am unable to reflect changes.
My ambiguities are

  1. where this information will be stored in DB.
  2. Which classes are called persisting this information, I debugged these two classes but there was no calling of functions of any sort
    a) LastActivity
    b LastActivityMarker

  3. Where should I debug/ how should I know, to check the flow that the last activity functionality is working

Thanx for you r support in advance.

Alternatively you could utilize (default) server-to-server protocol (sometimes referred to as "federation") which allows different XMPP Servers (not only Tigase) to connect to each other and facilitate user interaction. Those installations can be completely distinct (different domain, different database) and yet communicate with each other. You only need to configure DNS domains correctly.

In general yes. In some instances MUC may be required.

API and development: RE: Tigase Clustring with two different Domains and two different Databases

Tigase XMPP Server Board - Wed, 04/10/2019 - 23:40

Clustering means that 2 (or more) Tigase instances look to the end user as a single server (we call it single logical server). Users do not see many instances they just connect to the Tigase service at one, the same address.

So all Tigase instances must have the same domain (or the same many domains) and they have to connect to the same database.

Installation and maintenance: Is tigase service support Multi-party video call

Tigase XMPP Server Board - Tue, 04/09/2019 - 22:50

Hi,

I am wondering if I can use tigase service to implement multi-party audio or video calls.

I have found from the link https://tigase.tech/boards/15/topics/6621-jingle-protocol-support that I can use tigase service + Jitsi Client to implement
P2P audio or video call. But I am not sure if I can use tigase service to implement multi-party audio calls.

Would you help me to figure out what protocols needed by the function? Does tigase can support it?

Thanks for any ideas.

Installation and maintenance: RE: Modify the port number of tigase

Tigase XMPP Server Board - Tue, 04/09/2019 - 14:08

In case of typical connection managers (socket, bosh, websocket) you should modify ports property of appropriate connection manager, see https://docs.tigase.net/tigase-server/snapshot/Administration_Guide/html/#cmpnamePorts for example.

As for HTTP-API configuration please see HTTP server section of it's guide.
